Brijuni from Fažana: how to get there and what to see
Brijuni National Park — an archipelago of 14 islands just off Fažana — is the best-known day trip in this part of Istria. The good news: the boats leave from Fažana harbour, about 2 km from our apartments.

Getting to the boat
Fažana harbour is a few minutes by car or a twenty-minute walk along the sea. National Park boats sail to Veli Brijun; the crossing takes about 15 minutes.
Tickets and booking
Tickets are sold at the National Park office in Fažana or online at the official site np-brijuni.hr, which also lists current prices and the timetable. In July and August we recommend booking a few days ahead — morning departures fill up quickly.
What to see on Veli Brijun
- a guided tour of the island by tourist train,
- the safari park with animals that arrived as state gifts,
- the remains of a Roman villa in Verige bay and a Byzantine castrum,
- an exhibition on the islands' history and dinosaur footprints,
- walks and bike rides through parks and olive groves.
Tips
- A trip with the guided tour takes roughly half a day.
- Bring water, a hat and sunscreen — the island gets hot in summer.
- Private excursion boats in the harbour offer panoramic cruises around the islands; that is not the same as the official National Park tour.
